Your Moroccan adventure begins in Tangier, where you will meet your driver and depart for the enchanting mountain town of Chefchaouen.
Travel through the beautiful landscapes of northern Morocco and the Rif Mountains before arriving in Chefchaouen, famously known as the Blue Pearl of Morocco. With its peaceful atmosphere, blue-painted buildings and charming cobbled streets, Chefchaouen is one of the country’s most photogenic destinations.
Enjoy free time to explore the old medina, browse its small artisan shops and admire the colourful doors, flower-filled alleys and traditional architecture. Visit the lively Plaza Uta El Hammam, the heart of the town, where you can relax in one of the local cafés and soak up the unique atmosphere.
Overnight stay in Chefchaouen.
Day 2 — Chefchaouen to Fes: History, Culture and Ancient Traditions
After breakfast, depart Chefchaouen and continue towards Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural capital.
On arrival, meet your knowledgeable local guide for an immersive tour of the historic Fes Medina, one of the oldest and most fascinating medieval cities in the world. Step back in time as you walk through its maze of narrow streets, bustling souks and traditional neighbourhoods.
During your tour, discover ancient mosques, madrasas, artisan workshops and traditional fountains. See local craftspeople creating beautiful ceramics, leather goods, metalwork, textiles and intricate wood carvings using techniques passed down through generations.
Visit a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the medina and discover the famous traditional tanneries, where leather is still prepared and dyed using centuries-old methods. Your guide will introduce you to the history, traditions and daily life of this extraordinary imperial city.
Overnight stay in Fes.
Day 3 — Fes to Ifrane, Middle Atlas, Ziz Valley and Merzouga
After breakfast, leave Fes and begin a spectacular journey towards the Sahara Desert.
Your first stop will be Ifrane, a beautiful mountain town known for its Alpine-style architecture, clean streets and peaceful surroundings. Often called the Switzerland of Morocco, Ifrane offers a completely different side of the country.
Continue through the magnificent Middle Atlas Mountains and the cedar forests near Azrou. Subject to their location on the day, you may have the opportunity to see the wild Barbary macaques that live in this region.
Travel through mountain villages and changing landscapes before reaching the scenic Ziz Valley. Stop at a panoramic viewpoint to admire the vast palm groves, traditional villages and dramatic rocky scenery stretching along the valley.
Continue through Erfoud and arrive in Merzouga, situated at the edge of the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes. Here, your camels will be waiting to take you across the golden sand dunes as the sun begins to set. Admire the changing colours of the desert and enjoy wonderful opportunities to take memorable photographs.
On arrival at your desert camp, you will be welcomed with traditional Moroccan mint tea and shown to your private tent. You can also enjoy sandboarding on the nearby dunes.
In the evening, savour a traditional Moroccan dinner before gathering around the campfire for live Berber music, singing and dancing beneath the spectacular Sahara sky.
Overnight stay in a desert camp in Merzouga, with dinner and breakfast included.
Day 4 — Merzouga to Rissani, Todra Gorge and Dades Valley
Wake up early for the opportunity to climb the nearby dunes and witness a breathtaking Sahara sunrise. Watch as the first rays of light illuminate the desert and transform the dunes into beautiful shades of gold and orange.
Return to the camp for breakfast before leaving the desert and continuing towards Rissani. This historic town was once an important trading centre for caravans crossing the Sahara and remains famous for its traditional market and authentic local atmosphere.
Continue through the impressive landscapes of southern Morocco towards Tinghir and the magnificent Todra Gorge. Walk between the towering canyon walls, which rise dramatically on both sides of the crystal-clear river. This spectacular natural setting is popular with photographers, walkers and rock climbers.
After enjoying time at the gorge, travel through traditional Berber villages and beautiful valleys towards the Dades Valley. Admire its unusual rock formations, rugged mountains, green oases and ancient kasbahs.
Overnight stay in the Dades Valley.
Day 5 — Dades Valley to Ouarzazate, Ait Ben Haddou, High Atlas and Marrakech
After breakfast, depart the Dades Valley and travel along the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. Pass through the Valley of Roses and continue towards Ouarzazate, often called the Gateway to the Sahara.
Ouarzazate is well known for its historic kasbahs and international film studios. Many famous films and television productions have used the surrounding desert landscapes as their setting.
Continue to the magnificent fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most celebrated landmarks. Explore its narrow passageways and traditional earthen buildings while learning about its history as an important stop along the ancient caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech.
Ait Ben Haddou has also appeared in numerous international films and television series. Those who wish may walk to the upper part of the village to enjoy panoramic views over the surrounding landscape.
